RMIT University Foundation Studies Scholarships
RMIT University will be offering 12 scholarships, valued at AUD $6,000 each, to students in 2009 intakes of Foundation Studies. The scholarships are available to students from all countries and may be awarded to students in any Foundation Studies stream. The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and a scholarship application.
Please note that RMIT International College will be publishing details of successful scholarship applicants. Therefore, all successful applicants must consent to having their photograph and name published in printed and electronic promotional material.
Commencing students who wish to apply for the scholarship are invited to submit the scholarship application form (PDF 40kb) together with their application for a Foundation Studies program. The scholarship application form should be completed and attached to the application for Foundation Studies. Students who have already applied for a 2009 Foundation Studies program may also submit a scholarship application form by sending, taking or faxing it to:

Master Programmes - Study Climate Change in Denmark for a COP15 Climate Scholarship
Denmark offers a number of full scholarships within studies of climate change.
Climate change is one of the major challenges that our world faces today. In December 2009, Denmark will host the United Nations Climate Change Summit. To emphasise the importance of sustainable climate solutions, the Danish government is now launching the ‘COP15 Climate Scholarship’ for highly qualified students.
The scholarships, which cover both tuition fees and living expenses, are made available for a range of excellent two-years Master’s programmes, including MSc programmes in wind energy, environmental engineering or sustainable energy planning.
Background
In line with the overall aim of securing a climate friendly Climate Conference, the Danish Government has decided not to give any gifts or conference-kits for COP15 participants. The resources saved is instead used to create the ‘COP15 Climate Scholarship’, which gives a number of international students the opportunity to pursue a masters degree within climate change studies at a university in Denmark.

Preference will be given to applicants who serve as faculty members of state and private institutions of higher education in Indonesia. Applicants will possess:
- a Sarjana (S1) degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (4.00 scale)

SINGAPORE SCHOLARSHIP 2009/2010
SINGAPORE SCHOLARSHIP INVITATION FOR APPLICATIONS ACADEMIC YEAR 2009/2010
The Singapore Government awards the scholarship to Government-endorsed students from the other member countries of the ASEAN. Each Scholarship is for a full-time undergraduate degree course at the Nanyang Technological University, the National University of Singapore and the Singapore Management University. All disciplines except for Medicine and Dentistry are open to Scholars. The duration of each scholarships is for three or four years, depending on the discipline.
The award based on academic merit and places will allocated by open competition. If necessary, a one-year bridging or foundation programme, in addition to the undergraduate studies, will be provided.
To be eligible, a candidate must:
- Be a citizen in an ASEAN country (Except Singapore)
- Possess excellent academic records; and
- Have a good command of English
Candidates must meet the entry requirements for Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore, and Singapore Management University. A recipient of the Scholarship may not concurrently hold any other Scholarship, Fellowship, Grant or Award without prior approval of the Singapore Government. The Scholars are also expected to return to their countries upon graduation to contribute to the development of their countries.
The scholarship will cover tuition fees for the duration of the award, a living allowance of S$4,300 per annum, an accommodation allowance based on the different room rates at each university and one return economy class air ticket passage from his/her home country to Singapore for the duration of studies.
Applications must be endorsed and submitted by the Indonesian Department of National Education (Bureau of Planning and Foreign Cooperation) at Building C, 6th Floor, Jl. Jend.Sudirman, Senayan, Jakarta Pusat. Candidates are required to produce the following :
- Certificate, endorsement by the former school, for graduated applicants;
- Recommendation from the school principal, for applicants who are still in Grade 3 at SMU.

University College London (UCL) offers scholarships for UK/EU and international undergraduate students. The application procedure for international students is the same as that for UK/EU students. Master Degree Scholarships Marywood University
2009-2010 Graduate Scholarship Application
Master’s Degree, Educational Specialist Degree, and Post-Baccalaureate Certification Students
(Not School of Social Work Students, Speech-Language Pathology Students, and
Physician Assistant Students)
All material must be submitted by February 14, 2009.
Awards will be made on the basis of three factors: academic promise, normally represented by a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00 or a graduate GPA of 3.50; professional focus and commitment; and financial need (required for specific scholarships).
File a complete admissions application. It is fully expected that each prospective student who is a scholarship applicant will have a complete admissions application on file with the Office of Graduate Admissions by February 14, 2009. The admissions application provides the supporting documentation necessary to evaluate a scholarship application.
Complete the scholarship application electronically. The scholarship application itself is on a secure server. You must press “yes” if your browser asks you if you wish to display secure items, otherwise Marywood University will not receive any of the information you type on the application upon submission.
If you declare full-time status on the scholarship application, enrollment in nine or more credits in the Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 semesters or what your graduate department defines as full enrollment in structured programs, and are awarded a full-time status scholarship and enroll for less than full-time registration in either of these semesters your scholarship award will be reduced.
If you declare part-time status on your scholarship application, The Committee on Graduate Scholarships expects part-time status students who are scholarship recipients to enroll in and maintain at least six credits in the fall semester and at least six credits in the spring semester. Part-time status scholarship recipients who fail to meet this requirement in a semester will have their scholarships rescinded for that semester.
Email a scholarship essay as a Microsoft Word document. Please type an essay (300-500 words) clarifying the relationship between your life-goals and graduate education at Marywood. Your essay will also be judged on depth of expression and use of the English language. Your essay must clearly address the following areas:
- Describe your professional work background and experience.
- Describe your community leadership activities. Indicate if a volunteer activity.
- Describe any commendations and appreciation awards as well as undergraduate and graduate academic awards and honors.
- Describe any special projects, demonstrations, workshops, recitals, exhibits, or whatever may be appropriate to your area to indicate your abilities and interests.
- What are your short and long range career goals and objectives?
- What attracted you to your Marywood program as a vehicle for achieving your goals?

Students awarded graduate assistantships for the 2009-2010 academic year who accept those positions are not eligible to receive scholarship awards as well.
Marywood University undergraduate students who are enrolled in formal five-year programs are automatically eligible for at least forty percent of their undergraduate merit award or higher for their fifth year of study at the graduate level provided they are admitted to the master’s level by their academic department.
Neither scholarship nor assistantship awards are renewed automatically each year. It is the responsibility of the student to reapply each academic year.

P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship
P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship (IPS) Fund was established in 1949 to provide scholarships for international women students to pursue graduate study in the United States and Canada.
Members of P.E.O. believe that education is fundamental to world peace and understanding.
ELIGIBILITY
An applicant must be qualified for admission to full-time graduate study, working toward a graduate degree in a college or university in the United States or Canada.
A student holding citizenship or permanent residency of the United States or Canada is ineligible.
Scholarships are not given for research, internships, practical training, or travel.
In order to qualify for her first scholarship, an applicant must have a full year of coursework remaining and be
enrolled on campus for the entire school year.
Doctoral students who have completed coursework and are working on dissertations only are not eligible as first-time applicants.
AMOUNT OF SCHOLARSHIP
The maximum amount awarded to a student is $10,000. Lesser amounts may be awarded according to individual needs.
SCHOLARSHIP
P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship awards are not intended to cover all academic or personal expenses. At the time of application, the applicant is required to confirm additional financial resources adequate to meet her estimated expenses.
Examples of additional resources are personal and family funds, tuition waivers, work scholarships, teaching assistantships, study grants and other scholarships.

British Chevening Scholarships 2009-2010
UK - The Chevening scholarships are offered in over 150 countries and enable talented graduates and young professionals to become familiar with the UK and gain skills which will benefit their own countries.
The awards are included tuition, stipend, return airfares (economy class) and other allowances.
Support for scholars
Pre-departure English Course
English language training is included as part of the scholarship (if required) and candidates from outside Jakarta are supported during the period of the course. The language training is a full-time study and will be held in Jakarta. The candidate will need to obtain release from her/his employment for the duration of the course.
UK University Placement
Chevening is a self-placement programme. Students who are selected are responsible for making their own approaches to the UK university. We provide the facility in identifying the most suitable university and course if students wish to receive help or advice.

EWKLP is run by JAIMS, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Fujitsu established JAIMS as a nonprofit postgraduate institute in 1972. Google Scholarship for Women 2009
Google has published information from Google Europe Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship 2009, which aims to promote women to results in the field of computers and technology as well as active role models and leaders. Scholarships are open to students that his last year bachelor’s degree or enrolled in master’s or doctoral degree (or equivalent) in 2009/2010.
Multiple scholarships will be awarded based on the strength of candidates’ academic background and demonstrated leadership. A group of female Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD student finalists will be chosen from the applicant pool. The scholarship recipients, selected from the finalists, will each receive a €5,000 (or equivalent) scholarship for the 2009/2010 academic year.
In June 2009, all finalists will be invited to visit Google’s European Engineering Centre in Zurich for a networking retreat. It will include workshops with a series of speakers, panels, breakout sessions and social activities, and will provide an opportunity for all finalists to meet and share their experiences.
Eligibility requirements
Candidates must:
- be a female student entering her final year of a Bachelor’s degree, or enrolled in an a Master’s or PhD programme (or equivalent), in 2009/2010.
- be enrolled at a University in Europe. Citizens, permanent residents, and international students are eligible to apply.
- be studying Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Informatics, or a closely related technical field.
- maintain an excellent academic record (e.g. a First Class Honours degree).

Postdoctoral position in biostatistics-bioinformatics-population genetics
Appeals open for one year (subject to the possibility of extending funding), after positions in Grenoble, France. Topics of research are Bayesian methods in the field of genetics, with special emphasis on the detection of choice genome scans.
After the position is funded by the University of Joseph Fourier (Grenoble) and is part of an ongoing project between the two laboratories: Francois Olivier, TIMC, Faculty of Medicine (olivier.francois @ imag.fr) and Oscar Gaggiotti, LECA, Alpine Ecology Lab (oscar.gaggiotti @ ujf-grenoble.fr).
It should begin in September 2008, but an opportunity sooner or later commencement date of May will be discussed with applicants.
Doctors compatriots will be located in one of two laboratories, strong interaction with people from other laboratory located in the same city. Candidates must have solid experience in at least one of the following areas: biostatistics, bioinformatics and population genetics. Request for scientists in the field of machine learning is also encouraged.
